Washington (Daily News 8pm) The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has stated that normal air traffic is gradually returning to the United States after several hours of delay. The US air system has been disrupted, with 5800 flights delayed and more than 800 canceled. Although a backlog of flights is anticipated to cause additional delays, the FAA stated that flights would resume at 9 a.m. local time. More than 5,800 flights into and out of the United States were delayed and more than 800 were canceled as of Wednesday morning. A flaw in the system that informs pilots of potential hazards on flight paths led to the issue of flight delays and cancellations in the United States. It affected airports all over the country, including those in New York City, Atlanta, and Denver.

According to the BBC, the industry group Airlines for America, which represents major US airlines like Delta, American, and United, stated, "This technology problem is causing significant operational delays throughout the national air system."

The issue with the system has been explained to US President Joe Biden. "At this time," the White House stated, there is no evidence of a cyberattack. The president told reporters that the FAA "expects that in a few hours, they will have a good idea of what the cause is, and we will respond at that time." He was referring to the agency's response. The White House press secretary stated in a tweet that the president has requested an exhaustive investigation.
